"Friends take opposing briefs in a rape case. The key witness is a woman whose life seems a world away from theirs. At home, their own lives begin to unravel as every version of the truth is challenged." (The National Theatre). Within this play, Diyan Zora and I felt the story challenged the audience to make judgments about their own views on consent and relationships. Together we created an intense, claustrophobic concept, urging the audience to become voyeurs of the story and allegations. This intimate play, in a small space, created an intensely exposing piece of theatre, while providing a layer of security and distance for the viewer.
