Whispering Willows
Realised black box theatre production
My Role: Set and Costume designer and maker
Location: The Cresent Theatre (Birmingham)
Director: Mel Daly
This piece, based off the iconic story of The Wind in the Willows, was an immersive, non-verbal performance created for young people with learning difficulties. Our main goal was to create a playground for the young people which encouraged interaction, movement and engaged the senses. This performance was devised in a week in response to the original story and the set I had designed. I wanted to create three different spaces exploring different atmospheres and seasons while also giving the audience new textures to touch and places to explore. The story took the audience on an adventure round the joyful river, into mysterious wild wood and finally into Badgers cozy, homely den.
